He married Katharine Carwithe (spelling uncertain) on 13 April 1629 in St. Sidwell's Parish, Exeter, Devon, England. Her birthplace is
unknown. She died 24 October 1660 in Windsor CT.

SAMUEL2 GIBBS, born after 5 June 1631 (date of birth for his sister, Sarah, per James Rasmussen, The Gibbs Family of
Windsor, CT 1985
); died 08 February 1718/1719 in Windsor, CT. He married HEPZIBAH/HEPSIBAH DIBBLE,16 March 1664,
at Windsor CT.
HEP was born 25 December 1642, daughter of Thomas Deble and Mary Frances Grant.
Note: Windsor Historical Society quotes a probable date of 1633 for Samuel's birth in England.

BENJAMIN3 GIBBS, born 29 April 1675 in Windsor, CT; died 10 May 1767 (from headstone) in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT
and is buried at West Burying Ground. He married ABIGAIL MARSHALL on 16 SEPTEMBER 1708, in Windsor CT. She was born
09 January 1687 in Windsor CT and died 11 January 1767 in Litchfield, Litchfield CT. Abigail's parents were David Marshall and
Abigail Phelps who married 09 December 1689. David Marshall was born 24 July 1661 in Windsor CT, son of "Samuell Marshal"
and Mary Wilton. Samuell & Mary Marshall married in Windsor on 06 May 1652.

Son of BENJAMIN3 GIBBS and ABIGAIL MARSHALL:
GERSHOM4 GIBBS, born 28 July 1721 in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT (reported to be the first European child born at Litchfield) and
died 29 December 1776 in New York Harbor aboard the British prison hulk, Grosvenor, as a prisoner of war during the
Revolutionary War. His son, ISAAC5 GIBBS, who served alongside his father and was a prisoner with him on the Grosvenor,
received permission to bury him ashore when he died (see Edwin G. Burrows, Forgotten Patriots, New York, Basic Books, 2008,
page 55). ISAAC5 GIBBS, also died aboard the Grosvenor. Both were among a company of Connecticut Continental Troops from
Litchfield, under Capt. Bezaleel Beebe, who were taken prisoner on 16 November 1776 at the surrender of Fort Washington on
Manhattan Island, NY. (See also, G. H. Hollister, The History Of Connecticut, vol II, New Haven, Durrie and Peck, 1855; page 289.)
He married TABITHA MOORE in 1747. She was born c. 1725 and died 01 September 1809 in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT. She is
buried in Milton Cemetery, Litchfield, CT. in the Griswold Family Plot.

MOORE5 GIBBS, born 12 January 1757 in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT and died 15 April 1834 in CT. He married PATIENCE
SKEELS on 29 June 1786 in South Britain, CT (ancient Woodbury, CT and now Southbury, CT). She was born c. 1762 and
died 25 May 1853 in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT. She is buried in Milton Burying Ground, 610-5.

MOORE5 GIBBS was a tailor in town according to an old town history. His original house is located at 563 Milton Road, Litchfield,
CT 06759
.

Son of MOORE5 GIBBS and PATIENCE SKEELS:
WILLIS6 GIBBS, (spelled"Wylis" in Woodruff and "Wyllys" in the Litchfield town birth record) was born 13 August 1804 in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT and died 03 July 1874. Willis's record of death has not been located in Cornwall, Kent or Litchfield CT. On page 411 of A History of Cornwall Connecticut by E.C.Starr WILLIS6 GIBBS is reported to have died by "drowning" followed by a question mark. WILLIS6GIBBS married EMMA MARIA BALDWIN (not Eunice) on 21 September 1834 in Litchfield Litchfield CT as recorded in the original handwritten Parish record of the Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church at Milton, Vol. 1, page 11. The marriage was officiated by Rev. David G.Tomlinson. WILLIS6 GIBBS was head of a household in Litchfield, Litchfield CT in The 1840 Litchfield County Connecticut Census of Pensioners for Revolutionary or Military Services, including his 90 year old uncle and Revolutionary soldier, Gershom Gibbs.  In 1860 Deacon WILLIS6 GIBBS, EMMA MARIA GIBBS and children CHARLES7 and ELLEN7 LOUISE are recorded as members of  the Congregational Church in Falls Village CT, as printed in the church's 1866 Manual, pages 13-15. The1850 and 1870 Cornwall CT Censuses report that WILLIS6 GIBBS was a farmer.  The death of EMMA MARIA GIBBS, as recorded in Kent CT Vital Records, was on 06 April 1891. It is recorded that EMMA MARIA was the daughter of Stephen Baldwin (born in New York) and Naomi Gibbs (born in Litchfield). WILLIS6 and EMMA M. GIBBS had six children. All the children, according to the Cornwall Historical Society, were born in the "Milton section" of the town of Litchfield Litchfield CT. Two daughters died as infants and are buried in the Milton Cemetery in Litchfield, Litchfield CT with members of Willis's family. The daughters are ROSA7 GIBBS (died 24 November 1851, age 6 months) and EMMA7 E. GIBBS (died 10 May 1850, age 2 years). Two sons are buried with WILLIS6 and EMMA MARIA GIBBS in the North Cornwall Cemetery in Cornwall CT. They are WILLIAM7 HERBERT GIBBS who died at Cornwall on 25 July 1857, age 21y, and CHARLES7 BALDWIN GIBBS who died at Cornwall on 21 May 1865, age 26y. According to Kent CT death records, a daughter, ELLEN7 LOUISE GIBBS, was born 2 June 1853 in Milton, Litchfield CT. and died in Kent CT on 12 March 1920. According to census records "Louisa" was a "teacher" at 17 years. E.7 LOUISE GIBBS became a "telegrapher" for most of her career. ELLEN7 LOUISE GIBBS never married. ELLEN7 LOUISE GIBBS is recorded as an heir to the property of WILLIS6 GIBBS with ARTHUR7 F. GIBBS and EMMA M. GIBBS in the Cornwall CT probate records. The surviving son, ARTHUR7 FOOTE GIBBS, was born on 3 Dec 1844 in the Milton section of Litchfield, Litchfield CT. It is ARTHUR7 FOOTE GIBBS who continued our family's line of descent from GILES1 GIBBS. It is the marriage of ARTHUR7 FOOTE GIBBS to MARCELLA MINERVA HOSFORD that creates the family's lineage to the immigrant William Horsford, another founder of Connecticut.

ARTHUR7 FOOTE GIBBS, born 3 December 1844 in Litchfield, Litchfield, CT and died 1 November 1926 in Lakeville, Plymouth,
MA. He married MARCELLA M. HOSFORD on 10 November 1869 in Falls Village, Litchfield, Litchfield, CT at the M.E. Church
by Rev. B. H. Burch. She was born 31 January 1846 in Falls Village, Litchfield, Litchfield, CT, and died there on 11 March 1899.

HERBERT8 HOSFORD GIBBS, born 05 September 1899 in Falls Village, Litchfield, CT and died 29 January 1949 in Lakeville,
Plymouth, MA. He married ANNA MACDONALD in NEWTON, MIDDLESEX MA. She was born 25 January 1892 in West Lake
Ainslie, Inverness Co, Nova Scotia and died 11 October 1987 in Taunton, Bristol Co, MA.
