This image was scanned from a xerox copy provided by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History. It was copied from a microfilm image of the stub from an original Indented Certificate that was issued to Ezekiel Gibbes by the State of South Carolina for his militia duty in the Revolutionary war, in Col. Brandon's Regiment of South Carolina Militia.

Union County, SC - Official Minutes of the County Court (1785-1799) includes an entry that names Ezedkiel Gibbs as a defendant in a lawsuit filed on September 8, 1785, by Robert Montgomery, for failure to repay a debt.

Madison County, KY - Tax Rolls for 1792 - Ezekiel Gibbs was listed as a white male over 21 yrs, with 1 horse or mule and 1 cow, who paid taxes for unspecified acreage. [This was evidently not the same land as listed above for Lincoln County, 1789. Madison County was formed out of Lincoln County in 1785-6, so the Lincoln County listing for 1789 would refer to land not in Madison County.]

[Note: Ezekiel is found on the tax rolls in Garrard County for the years 1797, 1798, 1800 through 1805 (the last year checked by this researcher).]
