Generation No. 1

James1 Gibbs was born in 1774 somewhere in South Carolina, and died in 1820 or 1821 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina.
He married Jane Dunham, daughter of Henry H. Dunham and Elizabeth Medlin. She was born in 1784 in Rutherford Co, NC,
and died October 5, 1849 in Rutherford Co., NC.
Children of James1 Gibbs and Jane Dunham are:
i. John2 Gibbs, born ca. 1804; died July 15, 1885 in Polk Co., NC. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Spivey.
ii. William Gibbs, born ca, 1807
iii. Mary Gibbs, born ca. 1808
iv. Henry Gibbs, born ca. 1811
v. Nancy Gibbs, born 1813
vi. Andrew J. Gibbs, born 1814
vii. Elizabeth Gibbs Dimsdale, born 1816; m. Nesbitt Dimsdale (b. 1814; d. 1895).
She died in 1880 and is buried in Coopers Gap Church Cemetery, in Polk Co., North Carolina (Row 8, Sect. A)
viii. Thomas Gibbs, born December 2, 1821; died June 6, 1910.
